Volunteering at First Step
First Step Community Project has a long and proud history of volunteering. Right from the start, 30 years ago, it was parents getting involved and taking action within their community that got First Step started.
Today the involvement of the people that use our service is just as important as it was then.
Not only does this help us, but it is a great way to get to know other families in the area, gain new skills, have a say in what happens at First Step and feel part of the project. Many people have told us that volunteering at First Step has even helped them when looking for employment or applying to college, as well as boosting their general sense of well-being and confidence as a parent.
Volunteering doesn't need to be too time consuming. We understand life gets busy and the thought of committing to something might feel quite daunting - especially if you haven't been involved in groups or boards before. With the support of our friendly staff you will soon find the perfect opportunity for you and with on going training and supervision we will ensure you feel confident in your new role.
