Who delivers the Counselling Service at First Step?
We actively encourage Counselling Students to complete placements at First Step, and rely on students and volunteers to deliver this service. All students and volunteers are subject to PVG scheme checks and must provide proof of qualifications and/or course membership to complete a placement or volunteer here. All students and volunteers receive regular supervision from a qualified counselling practitioner and must be registered with the relevant supervisory agency (such as the BACP).
There are currently no student placements available, and we will update this page when placement spaces become available again.
If you are interested in completing a counselling placement at First Step please email the Project Manager at projectmanager@firststepmusselburgh.co.uk for more information.
Confidentiality and the Counselling Service
First Step works under the duty of confidentiality and the work we undertake is based on trust and respect. There are times when we may need to break confidentiality when we have a Duty of Care to a vulnerable adult or child. Please see the policies: Child Protection Policy and Procedures and Adult Protection Policy and Procedures for more information about this.
